Are you a creative teen (or younger) with a passion for fashion and theater? Join our Costume Design Team for an amazing opportunity to design costumes for a local Drama Academy! Led by a professional cutter and a Savile Row tailor, as well as upcoming Textile Designer, you'll learn from the best in the industry with weekly workshops designed to inspire and develop your skills. As part of our team, you'll: - Sketch and design fun costume ideas - Bring your creations to life through fabric work and sewing - Collaborate with actors and help create their characters through costume - Learn key skills like pattern cutting, measuring, and fitting - Work on building an impressive design portfolio - Get guidance on creating your own professional portfolio for future opportunities - Create your own fabric! This is your chance to explore the world of costume design, work with professionals, and bring your artistic visions to life. Whether you're dreaming of a future in fashion or theater, this experience will help you develop the skills and portfolio you need to make it happen! Timescale: 12th of November 2024 - 11th of March 2025 The project focuses on creating costumes for 25 child actors participating in the performance “Into the Woods" run by Shining Lights Performing Academy. Costumes are scheduled for completion by March 8, 2025. However, there’s no pressure — if your enthusiasm wanes along the way, just enjoy the creative process at your own pace. For your reference, the show is scheduled for the 22nd of March 2025, but remember, we’re only focussing on producing the costumes, not the performance itself. The project will have three main avenues to try yourself in: - Costume design - Textile design - Costume production Additionally, we have openings for three wardrobe assistants, so if you know anyone interested, please let me know!
